Blocks and More

this past weekend i spent getting caught up on quilt along blocks
i had several of them to get caught up on
1st out of the gate is this block that i made for the Jelly Roll Quilt Along from
2nd, 3rd & 4th were for the Star Sampler Quilt Along that I am doing from
pickles & bacon

the last 2 blocks are for a new quilt along i found through a member of my quilting bee group
its called Simple Sampler Quilt Along and its from
i have decided to make this out of Hope Valley which i LOVE and
rather then sash it in a light solid fabric i will be sashing is in an orange print from this line

now for the more part
i started work on my bag for the Sister's trip & i decided to make the largest size 1st out of a charm pack to see if i wanted to pack around that big of a bag. i am so glad i made this 1st becuz its huge (not finished yet) and i will be making a smaller size out of the Brady Bunch fabric i got for the trip. once i get both finished I will share pics.
i also worked on the setting kit for last year's Fat Quarter Shop's Mystery Designer BOM. i got the center of the quilt done and now i am working on the 36 sashing pieces.
this week i will be working on my Sister's bags as well as taking a trip to see my doc again. however, this time he should be giving me a diagnosis as well as a plan for treatment - FINALLY!
i will also be getting things ready for out Sister's trip. there are 7 of us going together all meeting in the Tri Cities at our 1st quilt shop. i think that we will be hitting about 10 or 11 shops over the 4 days not to mention the amazing outdoor quilt show on Saturday. this is my 5th year going & each year its better & better. we have a few newbies on this trip & that is always fun!
i hope you all have a wonderful week.

Limes, Limes & more Limes

limes, limes, & more limes

i bought this fabric on my Tennessee trip 2 years ago in a shop that had over 8,000 bolts of fabric yes you just read 8,000 - it was a bit overwhelming not to mention that the shop owner tore all of the fabric instead of cutting it - very odd but hey it works for her

on to the quilt

last year i did a block swap/rotation thing with 5 fellow quilters

we each made 2 blocks every other month then rotating the fabric to the next person

i used the lime fabric & ended up sashing my quilt with it becuz i LOVE it so much

i did a simple 4 patch for the cornerstones & bordered it with a light green

its off to be quilted all over & then i will bind it with a dark green

i have decided to take this quilt with me to see DMB at the Gorge this year

Friday night i have tickets for the lawn so this will be perfect

a HUGE THANK YOU to my quilting friends

Shelly, Lynette, Denise, Bonnie & Debbie
(i think i need to take a class on taking pics or get a better camera)

this past weekend i worked on a variety of projects
i got the backing & batting ready for 2 quilt tops to go to the quilter
the top one is a Halloween quilt for my bff son's - i pieced the back with leftover blocks & fat quarters - it actually turned out pretty cute
the next one is a jelly roll quilt that i made earlier this year when i was sewing with my bff
so off to the quilter they go & i will show you pics when i get them back & binded
friday evening i made this cute little bag the pattern is 'the favorite bag' from V and Co.
i didn't add the flower but i LOVE this bag & it went together quickly - even better
i also finally sewed together my blocks (that i made in March) for this Buggy Barn quilt
its made from their Iced Mocha line of fabric and i LOVE it as well
i will quilt this one myself at some point in the future
i pinned it over my Pumpkins Gone Wild quilt hence the orange at the bottom of it

i also put together block #2 for the Star Sampler Quilt Along that i am doing with Audrey from {pickles & bacon}

and last but not least,
just tonight i put together Block #1 from the Fat Quarter Shop's Designer Mystery BOM
i (big surprise) LOVE this block as well as the fabric

i have a busy week & weekend ahead of me filled with appointments & parties
we are celebrating my Grandma's 90th birthday on Saturday so all of the family will be in town
on Sunday we are celebrating my niece's 2nd birthday
so, probably not much sewing time
i hope you all have a great week!

Off To.....

i am off to work today, but have no fear i will be back at my sewing machine this afternoon once i get home. yesterday after work i sewed up a cute little purse that i will share with you on my next post. i have plans to make another bag and work on some other projects tonight.
my neighbors are having a "man shower" tonight - whats a "man shower"? - i asked the same thing. they are expecting a baby and since she got a baby shower he is having a "man shower" which in my book = a big party. so i am sure i will be up late tonight as well.
last night i hung out with my Renegades and we had dinner at Denise's (thanks) & great conversation about everything - recent vacations, life, work and of course sewing. when i got home last night i was thinking about my trip to St John & since i have no sewing related pics for this post i decided to share another photo from my vacation. enjoy!

Its Finally Done.......

its finally done............
my Pumpkins Gone Wild quilt which is the pattern Strip Search which i started in the fall of 2008 is FINALLY finished..........
i bought the jelly roll & fabric when i was on a trip to Tennessee in 2008
i quilted it myself & had several issues along the way - hence the amount of time it took me to finish it. i also hand sewed the binding on which i pretty much never do, but it didn't take long & i think it looks better so i will probably be doing that from here on out
i hung the quilt on my sewing room wall for this horrible pic & i have decided to leave it there for the time being...
i also quilted up my Make Life table runner
which i really love...
made the 1st block for the p&b star sampler quilt along i am doing
Audrey from {pickles & bacon} is doing this - go check it out and join us

& i made the 8th block for the Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt Along i am doing

next up for me will be a few bags
what are you working on?

It Was Another

it was another super sewing weekend for me. i got a lot accomplished but you know how it goes i still have a lot to do........
anyways, i finished signing all 101 of my siggy blocks for the Modern Siggy Swap
made another block for my block swap i belong to
finished up the quilting and binding on this quilt for Downy Quilts For Kids

made this block for the Sister's Outdoor Quilt Show block challenge
the black & white is their fabric & i added the green
i am in love with circles right now
made this 'who who' bag for my niece for her birthday
she turned 2 the end of May & we are having her party in a week when they are in town i am going to fill the bag with bubbles, books & other fun summer time toys

i finally got the binding on my Pumpkins Gone Wild quilt & believe it or not i am going to be hand sewing it on..... i know..... way out of the norm for me but i am expanding my skills & challenging myself more... see its not a bad thing
at least that's what i am telling myself

i also got this table runner ready to quilt - which i hope to get to later this week

also this weekend i joined a sewing bee called Bee Splendid which i am super excited about. Karrie from Freckled Whimsy is leading it. i have never been involved in a online bee & i am looking forward to it. THANKS Karrie!
oh, & i am also doing another quilt along. this one is with Audrey from {pickles & bacon} and its a star sampler so stay tuned for pics of those blocks.
i am headed to Spokane this week to see the doc again but i know i will get some sewing done some how this week.

I'm In Love

i'm in love with my new EQ7 software
i am like a giddy little school girl
i watched a couple of the how to videos that came right with the software & i was off to create something using the pinwheels that i made the wrong size for another project
this is what i came up with - just a general idea of where i was going & the coloring is off but it was my 1st project on EQ7 & so i went with it
i sewed it up last night & this is how it turned out
i love it!
its made with Make Life scraps & wrong size blocks from my Pinwheel Sampler quilt that i have been working on
i seriously think EQ7 is the greatest thing
in fact i am thinking of not going to work today so i can stay home and play...

Mini Pinwheels

i finished the 25 mini pinwheels

these are going to be the cornerstones in my Pinwheel Sampler quilt that i did via a quilt-along with Rachel from ps i quilt

a HUGE THANK YOU to Rachel for doing this

i love how the blocks have turned out and can't wait to get the top together

if you read my earlier post regarding these pinwheels then you know that these are my 2nd attempt at the mini pinwheels. i have been playing with my new EQ7 software to use the 1st pinwheels in a table runner - i will keep you posted on to how that turns out.
